Incarcerated: 4 Walls That Limit Success Pt I.

Continued from previous page.

“A person should stand up for himself or herself.” But… “I can’t tell him that; it might hurt his feelings.”

“You should always be nice.” But… “Nice guys finish last.”

“Rich people are greedy.” But…”I hope I hit the lottery so I can be rich.”

Each pair of those statements is conflicting. One part of an individual is at war with another part.  This creates an inner conundrum that is often the root of self-sabotage.

For weeding out conflicting beliefs a good question to ask yourself or someone else would be- “Is there any part of me that doesn’t totally agree with this?”

Think about the answer to that question long and hard because it doesn’t always immediately pop into your head.

In fact, for some of my coaching clients it may take several days. Then all of sudden he or she will say “I was taught to believe X when I was growing up and X is still something that I believe.” Then we realize that X is the complete opposite of what he or she wants to accomplish or change.

Limiting and conflicting beliefs or values can be a hard wall to knock down because a lot them are at the unconscious level. But it can be done.

Many people like you have done so.  And as result they have gone on to live more fulfilling lives. Get rid of your limiting and conflicting beliefs or values and watch…

The walls that confine you begin to crumble.

To learn how to knock down the last two walls read Incarcerated: 4 Walls That Limit Success Pt. II next week.
